Student Protests in South Africa: A year of dispute and unrest

Higher education has become unaffordable for the majority of South Africa’s mainly black young citizens. For about a year now, students –  on practically all university campuses – have pursued a longstanding campaign against government and  institutions of higher learning with regard to this issue. Matters have deteriorated dramatically leading to physical violence and near-anarchic behaviour of protestors at some top universities in the country.

What has led to this extreme situation and how can it be alleviated and put right to the satisfaction of all concerned parties?

On Monday, 7 November 2016, Mayibuye Südafrika Community e.V. would like to conduct an open and critical discussion around this topic. We therefore cordially invite you – members and the public – to participate in such a debate.

Venue:  Afrika Center Berlin, Hohenstaufenstraße 3, 10781 Berlin-Schöneberg
Time:     19.30

Looking forward to your attendance and participation
